Treatments and Cure
If you feel any discomfort with your teeth like pain, odour, breakage etc or you think your teeth is infected it is better to immediately consult us and get it diagnosed. The following are the treatments that we provide.
1. Gum Treatments & Scaling - Periodontitis
Gums are a much better indicator of your overall oral health than teeth. When it is inflamed, it can cause bleeding and bad breath which in turn may lead to gum recession and loose teeth. As a simple solution we at Sapphire do gum therapy for a sparkling smile through your ages. Scaling is routinely performed to help patients with gum disease and excessive plaque build-up. While a standard cleaning will address the surface of the tooth, scaling goes much deeper.
2. Root canal treatment - Endodontic Therapy
Root canal treatment is a treatment sequence for the infected pulp of a tooth which is intended to result in the elimination of infection and the protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion. The endodontist at Sapphire removes the inflamed or infected pulp, carefully cleans and shapes the inside of the root canal then fills and seals the space. During your second appointment with us we will place a crown or other restoration on the tooth to protect and restore it to full function. After restoration, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth.
3. Sealants
Do you face issue of food sticking to your back teeth while chewing? Then sealants are for you. Dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth, usually the back teeth (the premolars and molars) to prevent tooth decay. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas from tooth decay by "sealing out" plaque and food.
4. Filling
Fillings are used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down from misuse (such as from nail-biting or tooth grinding). Today, several dental filling materials are available. Teeth can be filled with gold; porcelain; silver amalgam or tooth-coloured plastic and materials called composite resin fillings. There is also a material that contains glass particles and is known as glass ionomer. This material is used in ways like the use of composite resin fillings. We check the suitability with each patient and suggest the best for them.
5. Dentures
Many people assume that they will wear dentures eventually. However, with proper care your teeth can easily last a lifetime. That said, should you lose most of your teeth, dentures can replace them and restore your smile. Even if you are only missing a few of your natural teeth you may want to think about filling out your smile with dentures. Dentures aid in speaking, chewing and swallowing. Visit our clinic to check if dentures are right for you.
6. Crowns and Caps
A crown or cap is a cover that fits over a tooth that has been damaged by decay, breakage, stain or is mis-shaped. Crowns are prepared by our dentist and usually requires more than one visit to our clinic to complete. An impression of your teeth and gums are made and a temporary cap is fitted over the tooth until the permanent crown is ready. On your next visit the dentist will remove the temporary cap and cement the crown onto the tooth. To prepare your tooth for a crown, the tooth is first frozen with anaesthesia, and then filed down so the cap can fit over it. The crown will closely match the colour and shape of your natural teeth. Crown can be made of acrylic, metal, porcelain, or porcelain bonded to metal. All-porcelain crowns look more like your natural teeth, and therefore are usually used for front teeth, while porcelain bonded to metal is stronger and better for crowns in the back of the mouth.
