Cosmetic Treatment
Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance of a person's teeth, gums or bite. It primarily focuses on improvement of dental aesthetics in colour, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance. We at Sapphire do the following in terms of Cosmetic Treatment.
1. Whitening
Whitening is a safe, fast and easy process that is effective for almost everyone for lightening discoloured teeth. This is a very common cosmetic dental procedure. The doctor will first evaluate your teeth and smile to determine whether whitening is right for you. In some cases, a different cosmetic procedure may better meet your expectations like laser whitening. This is done safe in Sapphire where your gums are covered with a rubber dam and a safe bleaching chemical is applied on the teeth. Laser whitening is said to be six times more effective in teeth whitening compared to other procedures.
2. Reshaping
Tooth reshaping removes parts of the enamel to improve the appearance of the teeth. It may be used to correct a small chip or to alter the length, shape or position of the teeth. It can also be used in case of tooth size discrepancy to correct crooked or excessively long teeth. This procedure offers fast results and can even be a substitute for braces under certain circumstances.
3. Enamel Bonding
Bonding is a process in which an enamel-like dental composite material is colour matched and applied to a tooth's surface, sculpted into proper tooth contour, hardened and then polished to repair decayed & cracked teeth. Teeth damaged by small to moderate decay, erosion or small fractures can be repaired with direct composite restorations bonded to the teeth.
4. Bridging
Dental bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. Most bridges are fixed they cannot be removed. In areas of the mouth that are under less stress, such as the front teeth, a cantilever bridge may be used. Bridges require commitment to serious oral hygiene and carry risk. The average life of bridges is similar to that of crowns which is nearly ten years.
5. Veneers
Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made porcelain laminates that are bonded directly to the teeth. They are an option for closing gaps, enhancing shape or to change the colour of teeth that do not respond well to whitening procedures. In majority of the cases some level of tooth reduction is necessary for optimal results. At Sapphire we gently fill down the enamel of your tooth and then an impression is taken. The impression is sent to a dental lab for custom veneers. To achieve a pleasing smile, we fabricate diagnostic mock-ups, which act as a tooth preparation guide before the fabrication of veneers. This allows the us to visualize the changes needed to be done on your teeth with respect to size, shape and proportion. Veneers are ideal for people who have dark staining which doesn’t go away with bleaching as well as chipped or fractured front teeth.
6. Gum lifts
A gum lift is a cosmetic dental procedure that raises and sculpts the gum line. The procedure involves reshaping the tissue and/or underlying bones to create the appearance of longer or more symmetrical teeth.
7. Straightening using Braces - Orthodontic Treatment
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean and are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches. We at Sapphire use Invisalign treatment as an alternative to traditional metal braces. Invisalign helps in treating spacing, crowding and overlapping teeth to create the smile patients desire. Clear aligners are comfortable, invisible and easy to clean.
8. Bite Reclamation
Although the primary objective of bite reclamation is to resolve dental health hazards, it’s considered a cosmetic procedure because it can improve your appearance. It will make your teeth look better. Bite reclamation is for patients who have had years of excessive wear to their teeth due to grinding or acid reflux that has altered the vertical dimension of their teeth. This gives them a better look to their face and smile.
